Al Shahama is a residential area on the northern mainland of Abu Dhabi along the main road towards Dubai, and one of the older suburbs outside the island.
It is divided into Old Shahama and New Shahama, the latter built as the population grew. Housing is mainly villas, often divided into portions, with some low-rise buildings and few high-rises.
Al Shahama bus station is a local hub for services into the city and to Dubai. Al Rahba Hospital and Deerfields Townsquare are nearby.
The area is close to Al Bahia and Al Rahba, and a short drive from Zayed International Airport.
