Car Battery Replacement
A replacement is only as good as the match. We start from your vehicle — technology, size, capacity and electronics — then test, fit and verify the charging system so the new battery is set up to last.
This page answers
What does a complete car battery replacement involve, from choosing the battery to fitting it?
When replacement is the right call
The old battery tested weak
Low state-of-health on a tester, slow cranking in the morning, or a battery older than three Dubai summers.
Repeated jump starts
If the car has needed a boost more than once in a few weeks, the battery has usually lost capacity it will not recover.
Warning lights after a flat
Start-stop disabled, battery or charging warnings, or electrical messages that appeared after the car went flat.
Swollen or leaking case
Heat damage shows as a bulging case, corrosion around terminals or an acid smell. These batteries should be replaced, not recharged.
The replacement, step by step
- 1
Identify the vehicle
Make, model, year and engine — plus a photo of the current battery label if you can take one.
- 2
Match the battery
Technology (conventional, EFB or AGM), case size, terminal layout, capacity and cold-cranking amps are matched to what the vehicle requires.
- 3
Test before removal
We confirm the old battery is the cause. If the battery is healthy, we say so and look at what else could be draining or failing.
- 4
Fit and secure
Memory is supported where needed, terminals are cleaned, the hold-down is secured and vent tubes refitted on cabin- or boot-mounted batteries.
- 5
Register and verify
Where the vehicle requires it, the new battery is registered. We then check starting voltage and alternator output.
Technical considerations
Technology is not optional
Start-stop vehicles generally need EFB or AGM. Downgrading to a conventional battery saves money once and costs more later.
Size includes the terminals
Two batteries with the same capacity can have reversed terminal positions. Cable reach and the hold-down decide what physically fits.
Old battery recycling
Lead-acid batteries are recyclable. The old unit is taken away for recycling rather than left with you.
What we match on every replacement
| Technology | Conventional / EFB / AGM — as specified for the vehicle |
|---|---|
| Case size | Group or EN/DIN size that fits the tray and hold-down |
| Terminal layout | Positive left or right, post type |
| Capacity (Ah) | Equal to or within the range the vehicle allows |
| CCA | At least the specified cold-cranking rating |
| Registration | Performed where the vehicle uses battery monitoring |
Exact specifications are confirmed against your vehicle and existing battery before fitting.
Vehicles we support
Petrol and diesel passenger cars, SUVs and pickups — including start-stop, AGM-equipped and battery-registration vehicles.
Questions about car battery replacement
How do I know the battery is the problem and not the alternator?
A battery test and a charging-system check answer this. A weak battery shows low state-of-health or fails a load test; a charging fault shows low voltage with the engine running. We test both before replacing anything.
Can I choose a cheaper battery than the original?
You can choose between suitable options, but the technology and minimum ratings should match what the vehicle needs. We explain the options that genuinely fit rather than the cheapest one that physically fits.
Will I lose radio and settings?
Some vehicles lose stored settings when the battery is disconnected. Where practical, a memory saver is used. Window auto-up and similar functions may need a quick re-initialisation, which we show you.
Does the new battery need registering?
Many BMW, MINI, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Land Rover and Volvo models monitor battery condition and should be told a new battery has been fitted. Our battery registration guide explains why.
